Class B CDL Practice Test

Any single vehicle with a gross vehicle weight rating of 26,001 pounds or more, or one towing a unit not heavier than 10,000 pounds. Straight trucks, large buses, dump trucks with small trailers.

The tests a Class B licence needs

Air brakes is conditional: you only take it if the vehicle you test in has air brakes. Skipping it puts an L restriction on your licence, which bars you from most commercial vehicles — so in practice nearly everyone takes it.

The vehicle you bring to the skills test matters just as much. Test in an automatic and you get an E restriction limiting you to automatics; test with a pintle hook instead of a fifth wheel and you get O. Both need a full skills retest to undo, so decide what you will actually be driving before you book.
